Crafty Ideas: Make Your Own Candles!
Hey Beauties! So, the other day, I saw all of my little candles. I have a LOT. I get them at Bath and Body Works in a 3 for $5 deal. So at the end of every season, I have lots left over, that just sit in a drawer. They're there for almost a year, when I can finally burn them again! I'm really specific with candle scents based on time of year. I decided that it would save space and look better if I just put them all together! So I thought up this absolutely awesome idea, and I thought I'd share it with you!
What you'll need:
A an empty glass jar (sauce jar, or even an empty candle jar!)
Variety of candles (I'm using similar-smelling ones)
Candle wicks (you can buy it rolled up at most craft supply stores)
Lighter or matches ( if you're under 17 or so, I'd recommend adult super vision since we'll be light a lot of candles!)
What to do:
*Disclaimer* Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT have any kind of paper anywhere near this project. I don't want you guys to burn down your house or anything. So just be careful! Try working on a glass table or surface or even on a washable ceramic plate. Being super duper careful, light all of the candles you're using for this project. Keeping a watchful eye on your candles, wait about 15-20 minutes or so. while you wait, cut pieces of wick that come a few inches below the rim of your jar. By now, your candles should be very melted. Carefully blow out the flames, one by one. Holding the wick , letting it touch the bottom, pour in the hot melted wax. Be extra careful with this part, so you don't splash your self with wax. let the first layer dry, and then pour in the second. Let that dry, and then pour in the third. Once your candle is done, set it in the freezer for about an hour or two, and there you go!
So now that you can make your own candles, run with it! you can make candles for anyone, using their favorite scents! I'm definitely gonna be making a ton of candles in my spare time, now that I know how to use them! It's cool, because you can look forward to each new scent when you're burning your candles!
And a quick tip: If you get any wax on your clothes, put them in the freezer. When the wax is frozen, you can just scrape it off!
Will you be trying this crafty idea out?!
